Erica Valentini
Erica Valentini has a Bachelor degree in Biology obtained in the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and during her studies she spent one year at the University of Valencia. Then, having a great interest in mathematics and computer science, she moved to the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” for a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics. Her Master’s thesis project: “Computational analysis of the Cyclophilin-Cyclosporin A complex in Leishmania and Human” was conducted part in the Center for Molecular Bioinformatics in Rome under the supervision of Prof. M. H. Citterich and part at the Center for Genomic Regulation in Barcelona under the supervision of C. Notredame. Working on her thesis she increased her knowledge about protein structures and multiple sequence alignment. After her graduation in 2011 she started an internship as visiting scientist in the K. Patil’s laboratory at EMBL in Heidelberg working in System Biology to broaden her perspective in bioinformatics. She has just joined as a predoc the D. Svergun group in the Hamburg outstation of EMBL.
