VIB - www.vib.be Short description about VIB VIB is a life sciences research institute in Flanders, Belgium. With more than 1200 scientists from over 60 countries, they perform basic research into the molecular foundations of life. VIB works in close partnership with four universities − UGent, K.U.Leuven, University of Antwerp and Vrije Universiteit Brussel and is funded by the Flemish government. VIB has 12 departments and units, covering research areas ranging from systems biology, molecular plant biology, molecular genetics, cancer research, microbiology, and neurodegenerative diseases. VIB Department of Structural Biology is located at the VUB (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) in Brussels. The department headed by Peter Tompa is dedicated to study basic problems in molecular biology and pathology by applying structural-biology approaches. Within the department, the group of Peter Tompa is interested in theoretical, bioinformatic and experimental studies on intrinsically disordered proteins. Role Contribute planning of individual training programs, supervise training-through-research activities, providing facilities for the cloning and initial structural-functional characterization of IDPs, giving lecture courses on these proteins and organize one ITC. Leader of WP6. Key competences and facilities Structural biology of physiological and pathological processes, recombinant protein production, mutagenesis, molecular biology, cell biology, X-ray crystallography, NMR, SPR, Nanotherm, ITC, cameloid antibody (nanobody).
